The Forest-Edge Lau Gar Kung Fu school is open to all adults and children from the age of 5. The minimum age reflects the need for students to have reached a certain level of maturity in their physical build as well as being able to exert self control when required. For children, learning a martial art is an opportunity to develop self discipline, confidence and respect for others. It also helps them to learn the importance of practice and attention to detail, which can help in their school work and social education too. Martial arts do not promote violence, and Lau Gar is no exception to this rule. In fact, learning Lau Gar teaches students to avoid confrontation and to use their physical strength as a last resort. There are many other benefits of Lau Gar, which are enjoyed by students of all ages: |
